Set up a job with AI Resume Screening

This guide will help you set up your AI-powered resume screen to save time, improve consistency, and supercharge your hiring process.

    • Check with your HiPeople Customer Success Manager (CSM) to see if it’s included in your plan.

    • If it’s not included, your CSM can help you explore upgrade options.

ATS Integration

HiPeople AI Resume Screening currently works with selected ATS integrations, as well as directly in the platform via resume upload, without ATS integration.

  • To use AI Resume Screening synchronized with your ATS pipeline stage, check if your ATS is supported in the overview below:

  • If it’s not, reach out to your CSM to learn:

    • If support is on the roadmap.

    • How to submit an integration request.

  • Enable integration:

    • If it’s your first time — welcome! You can review the setup guides on the following page: ATS Integrations (Overview)

    • If you already have a supported ATS integrated, double-check that permissions are correctly set.
      Your CSM can assist you if adjustments are needed.

  • Once connected, enable ATS Sync to sync your job data.


Configure Your Job With the Resume Screen Module

The first step is to either create or locate the job you want to enable AI Resume Screening.

Option a: Create a job

For non-ATS users, you will create a new job from scratch to start running AI Resume Screening. Go to the Jobs tab, then click Create new job.

Give your job a title, and include its Job description. Then, click Next step.

PS: Although the Job description field is optional, it's important to add the role information here, as this is how HiPeople's AI will automatically suggest initial job criteria.

Select Add to job on the Screen Resumes box to include that module in your job, then click Next step.

If you are also running other automations with HiPeople, such as Assessments, Reference Checks, or AI Interviews, you can add them to your job now or later.

Add other team members to the job, then click Next step.

Option b: Locate your job (synced from ATS)

If you are an ATS Integration user, you won't need to create a new job in HiPeople. By enabling the ATS Sync feature, all the jobs you create in your ATS will automatically populate in HiPeople, so your first step is to locate that job in your Jobs (https://app.hipeople.io/roles) page.

Any new job will show a warning message, which is an indicator that it needs to be set up.

Click on the job that needs to be set up. Review the initial Setup page (job title and description), but no edits are required, so you can click Next step.

Select Add to job on the Screen Resumes box to include that module in your job, then click Next step.

If you are also running other automations with HiPeople, such as Assessments, Reference Checks, or AI Interviews, you can add them to your job now or later.

Add other team members to the job, then click Next step.

Connect the job in HiPeople to the corresponding job in your ATS.

Select the pipeline stage that will trigger the resume screening.

The pipeline stages shown on this list should mirror the ones in your ATS's job pipeline.

Click Save Job.


Configure your AI Resume Screening Job

Click on Screening to finish the job setup.

1. Set Job Criteria

HiPeople AI automatically pulls your job description from your ATS and suggests initial job criteria.

  • Criteria Structure:

    • Title: Internal label to stay organized.

    • Prompt: This defines how the AI evaluates resumes.

  • Best practices:

    • Edit or delete any prompt.

    • A screen requires a minimum of 2 and up to 20 criteria.

    • Learn what makes a good prompt vs. a bad prompt here.

2. Define Screening Limits (Optional)

  • Set a limit on how many candidates are screened.

    • Example: For 1,000 applicants, setting a limit of 50 will screen the first 50 (FIFO).

  • Our recommendation:

    • Start with 50 candidates to test and refine your criteria.

    • Once satisfied, remove the limit to ensure all applicants are screened moving forward.

3. Configure Workflows (Optional)

HiPeople supports bi-directional sync with your ATS, meaning all actions in HiPeople (advancing or rejecting candidates) are automatically reflected in your ATS.

  • Automation options:

    • Auto-Reject:
      Set a cut-off match score and select a rejection reason (options pulled from your ATS).

    • Auto-Advance:
      Set a high match score threshold and select the stage to automatically move candidates to (stages pulled from your ATS).


Go Live

Once your configuration is complete:

  • Click the Save & Start Screening button at the bottom of the setup page.

  • Your HiPeople AI Resume Screening will start running automatically for the defined job.
