HiPeople Science Collaborations

Learn how we leverage collaborations to drive excellence in test development.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Collaboration plays a central role in how we develop assessments at HiPeople. Bringing different experts together helps us create tools that are scientifically grounded, practical for hiring teams, and fair for candidates. Below is an overview of why collaboration matters to us and how it shapes our work.

Collaborative Partners and Examples

BESSI Soft Skills

We use BESSI, developed by Soto and colleagues, as a foundation for our soft skills assessments. It measures 40 soft skills across five domains, providing a structured and scientifically supported way to understand social, emotional, and behavioral strengths.

An example is the Social Engagement domain, which covers facets such as leadership, persuasion, conversational skill, expressiveness, and the ability to channel energy effectively.

Brent Roberts

We collaborate with Brent Roberts, a leading personality psychologist and Distinguished Professor at the University of Illinois. His work helps inform our understanding of how personality traits develop and how they relate to workplace behavior.

GESIS

GESIS, the Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences, contributes methodological expertise and research knowledge. Their focus on robust survey design and high-quality data supports the strength of our assessments.

Why Collaboration Matters

Diverse Expertise

Our development process involves specialists from different fields, including psychology, data analysis, and industry practice. This mix ensures each assessment is reviewed from multiple perspectives.

Innovation and Practicality

Working with external partners sparks new ideas and helps us adopt modern, effective methods that keep our assessments up to date with how hiring is evolving.

Validity and Reliability

Collaborative development supports strong psychometric quality. Expert input helps ensure that our assessments measure what they are supposed to measure and do so consistently.

Cross-Disciplinary Insight

Insights from psychometrics, behavioral science, data analytics, and role-specific knowledge come together to create assessments that better reflect real job requirements.

Industry Relevance

Professionals with hands-on experience help us keep assessments aligned with what organisations actually need from candidates.

Ethical Review

Collaboration helps us challenge assumptions, review sensitive areas, and ensure each assessment is fair, unbiased, and aligned with modern ethical expectations.

Continuous Improvement

Ongoing input from partners allows us to update and refine assessments as new research, data, and requirements emerge.

Global Perspective

Working with experts in different countries ensures our assessments translate across cultures and remain meaningful in diverse hiring environments.
