High quality translations are essential when assessments are used across different regions and languages. A poorly translated item can change the meaning of a question, introduce bias, or affect how candidates interpret the task. To avoid this, HiPeople uses a translation process that mirrors how professional translators work, but with far greater speed and cost efficiency.

We begin by running each assessment through our proprietary translation engine. This system is designed to follow the same steps a human translator would take, including capturing tone, preserving intent, and keeping technical or psychological terms consistent. The output is not a literal word for word conversion. It aims to reflect how a native speaker would understand the original item.

Every translated version is then reviewed by a human translator who specialises in the target language. This step ensures that nuances, cultural references, and domain specific terminology are accurate and appropriate. Reviewers make corrections where needed and flag any items that may not transfer cleanly between languages.

After the linguistic review, the translated test goes through validation steps common in IO psychology. We check for clarity, item difficulty shifts, cultural fairness, and potential measurement differences across languages. This helps us identify items that may function differently in one language compared to another. If any concerns appear, we refine the wording or adjust the item to ensure that it measures the same underlying construct across languages.

The result is a translation process that protects reliability and fairness while keeping costs and turnaround times low. Companies get assessments that work consistently across markets, and candidates receive questions that feel natural and clear in their own language.
